2013 Pamlico County Big Sweep Results

Pamlico County Cooperative Extension would like to thank all those who took part in the 2013 Pamlico Big Sweep Event. Our county Big Sweep event coincides with NC Big Sweep, a two-decade long program that supports local communities taking an active part in cleaning our waterways, streets, and local environments.

This year’s participants included the Pamlico 4-H Horse Club, Pamlico County Boy Scouts, NC Creek Keeper, and other county residents and volunteers totaling 45 participants. Through their efforts, participants helped to collect over 800 pounds of trash and cleaned over 5 miles of roadways and waterways in Pamlico County. Collected items from the event included: plastic and glass beverage bottles, cigarette butts, food wrappers, and fishing line.

Again, thank you to all those folks who took part in this year’s event. It is you the volunteers that make our efforts for a cleaner and healthier environment a reality. See you all next year!
