For those growers applying dicamba herbicides (Xtendimax, Fexapan, and Engenia) (over-the-top within dicamba-tolerant cotton and soybeans (Xtends), please note there have been some important label changes. The most important of which is that only certified applicators may apply dicamba over-the-top (those working under the supervision of a certified applicator may no longer make applications). In addition, all applicators are still required to attend an annual Auxin Herbicide Applicators training to apply both dicamba and 2, 4-D (Enlist) products.
That means, as a grower, you will be required to have both a private applicators certification (or appropriate application license) and a North Carolina Auxin Herbicide training certification for 2019 to apply labeled dicamba products over-the-top to tolerant crops.
To facilitate the annual Auxin Herbicide training requirement, NC State Extension will host 35 regional training sessions across North Carolina. An additional three trainings (one is Spanish) will be held in Raleigh at the N.C. State Fair Grounds at the end of the training schedule to help capture any persons who could not attend a nearby training.
