The 2020 Master Gardener℠ volunteers of Pamlico County training class has been set for February 20 through April 14, 2020. This intensive 40-hour training course will cover a large array of horticulture-related topics that include:  Soils and Fertility, Plant Selection and Care, Vegetable Gardening, Insect and Disease Control, and numerous other subjects. Classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursday of every week from 9 a.m. until noon at the N.C. Cooperative Extension of Pamlico County office. Applications for this program will be accepted through February 14, 2020. If you are interested, applications can be obtained from the N.C. Cooperative Extension of Pamlico County office or by clicking on the following link: 2020 Master Gardener Application. Space is limited so do not procrastinate. Those accepted into the program will need to pay a $135.00 training fee by the first week of class. This fee will cover the cost of training materials, which includes a training manual.

Volunteers who finish the class will be expected to complete 40 hours of volunteer service working with Cooperative Extension and Master Gardener℠ volunteer projects. Only then will each student earn the title of Master Gardener volunteer. To maintain this title in subsequent years, volunteers must complete 20 hours of volunteer service. The Extension Master Gardener℠ program of Pamlico County is a rigorous program designed to provide highly trained volunteers to meet the Horticultural needs in Pamlico County and North Carolina. For those of you who have a desire to increase your Horticultural knowledge and share this information with your friends and neighbors, this program is for you.
